SSU: Improve A Look.

Improve A Look is something I'll do every Saturday; Basically, what I do, is search around suites. I choose a user, comment on their outfit, then improve and change their look. I'll also look in their wardrobe for things I can use and add accessories - but I must keep at least one original item and I must keep the same sort of vibe about the outfit. For example, say I chose a user who was wearing a summery outfit...I'd improve it, but keep it looking summer-related. So, that's how it works. Now, let's get on with Improve A look. I've chosen someone e who I think has an amazing style. I've picked UndamyUmbrellla. The items of clothing she's wearing are the LS sheer top [available from Bisou for 5 stardollars], underneath the Lace Drop waist dress from Philosophy. Although Kasia suits this, I'm not sure on it. I searched Kasia's suite for something else to dress her in. Her wardrobe contained a lot of rares, but I only used one - The 'Ashley dress', my favourite RC MK&A item. I wanted to keep the purple in the outfit, so I used the 'Ballon skirt' [was available from Voile, isn't at the moment]. I added it to the dress. I hesitated, wondering whether to pull it up higher, and make it look shorter - or a little lower. For shoes, I stayed with the same Ashley Olsen ones. SSU: March Hotbuys - Opinions?

The March Hotbuys have been released recently, so I thought I'd give my opinions on them all, one by one. Looking at them briefly, it looks like Stardoll will be releasing some interesting items.
1: Hotbuys Earrings - I'm not sure on these at all. To be honest, I think they look a little...Common? Cheap? I don't know what Stardoll was thinking when they decided to create these. What type of look were they aiming for? The main word that comes to mind when I look at them is 'chavvy.' They are somewhat tacky. I don't like these at all.
2: Hotbuys Shoes - Overall, I find these...Funky. People who like to experiment with different styles and colours will buy them. I like the main colour, but I'm not sure on the pepperment green laces - Do they clash, or is it just me?
3: Hotbuys Denim Dress - This dress screams out indie. It strikes me as a sort of summery dress. I picture it on somebody with a pair of pretty flats and bangles. I think if you wore it like that, it would look nice. However, this dress isn't my favourite item.
4: Hotbuys Skirt - Hmm. I've seen a skirt very similar to this in the Starplaza, a Hotbuy from February's collection. Only, this one isn't as good. The pattern isn't the best. The colours go well together, which is a high point, but a bad thing is that they don't work with the pattern.
5: Hotbuys Denim Jacket - I don't like this at all. The denim and the-material-that-looks-like-leather are just no-no's, together anyway. The three-quarter sleeves I just hate, and the pink detail on the side and collar remind me of those jackets you can buy for toddlers.
6: Hotbuys Bodycon Dress - To be honest, I like this. The colours are good, the length is perfect and I find the style quite pretty. Not the best dress ever, but it's my favourite item so far after everything we've looked at.
7: Hotbuys Bracelet - Hate! This bracelet just seems tacky. Firstly, it's gold. And it looks like fake gold. I hate gold, unless it's real and worn with something that matches. Next, it says 'CALL ME' on. I'm not sure at all.
8: Hotbuys Circle Purse - Oh no. This is awful. The circle-shape, the gold-ball detailling, the tassels...I don't know about anyone else, but this takes me back to those old cowboy films. You know the ones, with the tanned brown-haired girls on horses with the shoulder bags. *Shudders*
9: Hotbuys Jumpsuit - This is a toughie. It's hard to describe. I'm not sure whether I love it or hate it. I like the style and the belt seems to go alright with the colour. Hmm.
10: Hotbuys Trousers - Okay, these are just disgusting. Who would buy those? They're absolutely awful. They make me think of Elvis for some reason. All over these are just...Ugh.

SSU: Free Barbie Dress / Pop Art Items

1. Let's begin with the Free Barbie dress. I logged on to Stardoll yesterday and I found a number of members wearing a simply gorgeous Barbie gown. Okay, so yeah, I'm a boy, but I still think that the dress is absolutely stunning. The dress reminds me of the Kylie Minogue lottery dress, but I think that it's nicer to be honest. It also reminds me of Teen Style's latest issue - there's a sort of sweet, candy vibe about it all. Four girls wore the dress in their own way, and I just had to feature them. First is smoothieLove - I love the way she added classic black gloves and a pair of black DKNY heels for her own look. Next up is writemarycat; The fashionista has added a veil, which is something I haven't seen anyone else do yet. She looks like some kind of Barbie bride, haha. Now, here's fionamcgonigle. She's placed a bright yellow bow on the dress to make it seem more summery; I love it, I love it, I love it. Finally is ska8ter_2006. I adore her hairstyle and make-up...Somehow, they both go with the dress in an original way.
2. The new Pop Art items in the Starplaza shocked me a little. With the 'Super Herona' doll the other day, I must admit that I was expecting these clothes, but Stardoll could've made them a little better. Like my friend Kaya [KayaCouture] said to me in a message today - 'What was Stardoll thinking? Those clothes looked like you could buy them in Asda on Halloween.' Both boy and girl items seemed tacky and cheap, which I guess Kaya was trying to put across. Some things were okay - like the black/blue mini dress - but most of the items just seemed plain...childish. I can't think of any other words at the moment; But I'm sure Stardoll can sell better in the Starplaza. That's all for now. I'd love to hear your opinions - Comment?
